Welcome to the world of Tirerion Empty
PostSubject: Welcome to the world of Tirerion   Welcome to the world of Tirerion EmptyTue Jun 08, 2010 10:26 pm

Welcome, stranger, to the fantasy land of Tirerion. In a world of elves, dwarves, dragons, and men, adventure begins. It is the Solunar year 3237. Over two hundred years ago, a great monarchy ruled this land from the Romuri Palace, but there was a violent uprising and siege. The revolution left the monarchy dead, as well as most of the nobility, though some escaped with the servants and workers. The palace now lays deserted and in shambles, a reminder of what happens to those who flaunt their power.

Races have intermingled across the land and trade with the outside world has opened up. Horizons are expanding in every direction and the land prospers with diversity. Yet, these are still troubled times. Doors are kept locked and secrets kept hidden. Strangers are regarded with suspicion and fear. Dark forces linger somewhere beyond the horizon, brutal rumors of a terrible, evil army rising in the North have pervaded the country. With the monarchy gone, there is nothing to unify the provinces against an attack and takeover if indeed an army marches one day on their lands. With a full-scale war lingering in the darkness, is anyone safe?

Things to know:

Other Realms

Land of the Dead
This is generally associated with ghosts and ghouls and is some form of hell though each race has their own perception of hell. The Land of the Dead is what Necromancers use to perform their magic. It is dark and dreary and only Necromancers are able to enter into it and come back out but even they have to be careful.

The Spirit Realm
This realm is associated with Spirits (rather than ghosts) and souls, as well as deities. It is in this realm that deities are most powerful and mortal souls can be temporarily transferred to the Spirit Realm in order to speak to a deity but it is very uncommon. It is also possible physically enter the Spirit Realm but this requires highly advanced magic and if prolonged, can cause one to be stuck in the Spirit Realm. This Realm is associated with Sorcery.

Currency

gold
silver
bronze
copper

Use these as you see fit, they're not exceptionally important.

Measuring time

Seconds, minutes, hours, days
all measured more or less by the sun

Weeks, fortnights, months
measured by turns of the moon

Solunar years = the moon having gone through it's cycle twelve times (so the same as an actual year, it just sounds cooler this way)

Language

There is a common tongue used in all of Tirerion and some surrounding countries. Many races have their own native tongue as well. Occasionally they will throw a word from their language into a Common tongue sentence for emphasis.

Wildlife

Although this is a fantasy world, much of the wildlife resembles that of our own. Things such a rabbits, bird species, fish, etc. are common here. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN A NORMAL ANIMAL USE HUMAN SPEECH. Not out loud, not telepathically, nothing.
